Super cozy spot! Went in and had the chicken livers app and was delicious. Sweet and savory. Followed with the stuffed shells which were also great. Garlicy and cheesy. Will for sure go back to try some other items.
Good food, great vibe! The prime pork chops were 10/10 — cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Loved the service too, very friendly and attentive. Definitely a place I’d come back to!❤️
This place was amazing, the food reminded me of the pasta I had in Italy a few years back, the drinks hit just right, and the dessert was a phenomenal ending. We sat outside and enjoyed the calm atmosphere, with some great music to keep us company.
Really nice spot with great (almost too big) portion sizes. 1. Waffle fries - AMAZING. They do say this feeds 3-4 people (or something like that on their menu) and they are totally correct on that claim. But also extremely reasonable in pricing. 2. Wedge salad - you can never go wrong with a good wedge salad and they did not 3. The meatballs, everyone raved about them, these were solid, the weakest of the things I ate, but still very good. So a testament to the fact that their food is DELICIOUS. Dessert was delicious and decadadent and wonderful. The clarified drink was well made, maybe a bit sweet for my liking but still really well done and technically sound. All in all a great atmosphere, kind of like a sophisticated British pub feel!
It's a little loud in there! I ordered the CC chicken livers it came with sauteed sweet onions and mushrooms in a maple syrup sauce. I hate onions, so I had then leave them off. It was absolutely delicious! I also had a mixed drink called Adult Capri Sun. I thought it would be a fruity little drink but it came in the glass like a martini glass and it wasn't all that fruity so I was a little disappointed with that.
Outstanding! The service was top-notch. The food exceeded all expectation. The chicken livers were amazing. The gravy that came on the meatballs was superb. Highly recommended.
An amazing meal with fantastic ambience and service! The Obstinate Sons is a small restaurant that serves big tastes. We had the Canon Balls and Deviled Eggs apps. Both were stunningly delicious. My understanding is the deviled eggs change from night to night. I worried this meant they’d be dressed with yesterday’s leftovers but the truth is they had a pulled pork and hot sauce on them that went on the menu at all! It was a pleasant surprise and a delicious app. The sauce on the meatball dish was also delicious. Our server, Trevor, kept our glasses full and his suggestion of a main course was not a disappointment as the Pork Chop was the winner of the evenings meal. This won’t be our last trip here by any means and I think I’ve definitely landed on a new “best date night” experience place to go.
My husband and I both agreed that this was the best meal out we’ve had in a long time. Get there early- we arrived at 5:45 on a Friday night and were able to snag the last two seats at the bar! Prices were reasonable considering the quantity and quality of what you get. We tried the sole and pork chop- both were outstanding. We can’t wait to come back and try more!
Love it. First time in Chevy Chase, and this menu stood out to me. My baked French onion was perfect. The best hot toddy outside of Wisconsin, by far. Great service and ambiance.
This review is from my third(?) time going at this point. Brought my parents from out of town, tough crowd, and like always everything was great! The only negative thing is maybe our own timing? Haha if you want to get seated right away, come after 7:45. We waited an hour, but the manager was so very kind and checked up on us. It’s a small place and unfortunately if people sit around, they can’t move their ~7 booths. But the MOST important part was the food and drinks. I got Luck Be a Lady and the Bananas Foster Old Fashioned - both were good! In the photos you can see the Wedge Salad, Shrimp Gnocchi, and the special, Chicken Fettuccine. Literally no notes. The CannonBalls were ate before I could get a picture but they had this sauce that should be served on a main dish. They were better than most meatballs to me, not in a red sauce. My dad even went to the back before we left to thank everyone for the service and quality. High praise from him!
